It's been..something to watch the shift in my social media lately. People screaming about things shifting to paying for everything, but owning nothing and how no one can afford to live anymore.
Some of us, have been talking about this for a long time. But no one cared because it was only certain kinds of people that couldn't afford it. When it's just undesirables that can't do or afford something it's not important enough.
But when it's other people suddenly it's an issue worth making noise over.
Those same people suddenly all about "analog bags" to get off their phones, buying their physical media, finding and investing in hobbies.
I'm just shaking my head and staying out of the comments.
As a disabled person, homebound person, I get told I should own nothing because I can't afford it. I should live light because I can't do the heavy lifting when I have to move. Skip meals, eat less, visit food banks, or soup kitchens, eat food that I don't like, or that I am allergic to. If you're hungry you don't deserve choice or preferences. Even food safety.
But suddenly because it's other people it's okay to own physical media, it's okay to have hobbies, and to have stuff. To have the right of preference, choice, and food safety?
I have hit the point in life, I really hate this planet.
I am exhausted dealing with the every day that I am forced under while others get to live their best life, with minimal effort and/or red tape.
It's made me quieter, and more withdrawn since the move. I just don't have the anger, or the energy anymore. I'm numb and I am exhausted by the double standard.
I still follow the news, though I take in less of it. I still write and tell my story. But it is with no expectations. It just gets the words out instead of burying them. It helps keep me healthy instead of internalizing.
I've become more intentional in the people i choose to open up to, to spend time with. I purposely keep my circle tight for my own mental well being.
The difference in weather has made life a little more difficult. I've had more pain and tightness than I am used to and the season that used to when I got out is turning into one where I am not getting out near as much as I used to. So I am learning to embrace more of the things I recommend to others.
I've made a second cart, one for the bedroom, one for the couch - though admittedly they move around as I do. Meds, hobbies, books, heating pads. Snacks, and things is a little harder because the whole food allergy and safety thing. And my foods tend to be a heck of a lot more expensive.
But I am pushing on and making do.
As we do.
But sometimes, I really wish there was an easier way to connect with disabled, chronically ill, and homebound people. Local and otherwise.
