I never expected to be this close to 50 and starting again. But here we are, processing grief from a life I thought I had built. Navigating heartache. Dating (or trying to!) a new apartment, a new town, new friends (again, trying!) School, parenting, trying to figure out who I am, what I love, and what life looks like for a solo disabled mama while trying to claw my way up from below the poverty line in a world that's on fire. (In more ways than one!)
Hobby Hunting
I'm calling this period of my life, my "Hobby Hunting" era. It doesn't matter than anyone like it but me. For me, if it amuses me long enough to keep doing it, than I call it a win. It doesn't need to be deeper than that.
My hobby hunting era, is me trying things that I think look interesting. Social media is great for inspiration. But a little harder when you don't have access to cheaper places to shop for items. I try to find small ways to explore things when I am able using whatever I have.
Books is easy because I am a firm believer in supporting your local library and they usually have a great solution of books, digital items and homebound delivery.
Beyond books is a little harder. But I have been lucky enough to find some really interesting things that I wish I found a LONG time ago.
Solo RPG
I feel like everyone knows what DnD is by now. But not everyone has heard about Solo RPG's. I know I hadn't until I quite literally fell on it, on my feed lately. Of course I instantly went down a rabbit hole and I never wanna come out. I'm going to share some useful links to get you started if like me, you had no idea this was a thing and some of my favorites (and games that I want to play/own).
- Wandering Library. The Wandering Library set the bar for Solo RPG's really, really high for me. Especially for the first one I've ever come across. I mean, it triggered 9+ pages of backstory before I started playing. That's how much I love everything about this game. As someone who loves books, games, and writing solo rpg's especially those with a heavy journal element is everything my heart could ever need or want. 5 (million) starsπππππ
